In an effort to provide on-going assistance and
evaluation of the distance education activities within the California
Community Colleges system, The Chancellor's Office has developed
these Distance
Education Guidelines.
The revisions to the regulations were made to mainstream Distance
Education and fully integrate Distance Education into the community
college system. The modifications define Distance Education; curriculum
issues, attendance accounting computations, and distinguishes Distance
Education as separate from independent study. All Distance Education
courses, sections and sessions designed to use any mediated technologies
are still subject to the same local and state approval standards
and procedures that are currently applicable to all other forms
of instructional delivery.
We hope the development of these guidelines will help districts
and colleges understand the revisions made to the Title 5 Regulations
pertinent to Distance Education. If you have any questions or comments
about the Distance Education Guidelines, please contact Cristina
Mora at 916- 445-1643 or via email at cmora@cccco.edu
or Ken Nather at (916) 322-9048 or via e-mail at knather@cccco.edu.
