Title 5 Sections 53200 and 53203

This site is maintained by the Legislative Counsel of California, pursuant to California law. It contains full text of bills, resolutions, and constitutional amendments, their status, history, votes, analyses, and veto messages.

Title 5 (Various Chapters and Sections)
Sections of Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations relating to curriculum in the community colleges.

Matriculation Site Visit Guidelines
These Chancellor's Office documents give guidance to both the matriculation coordinator at the college being visited and to the team members performing the visit.

Title 5 Regulations on Distance Education
The Title 5 regulations for distance education (technology-mediated instruction) were revised in 1995. At that time a set of guidelines was released by the Board of Governors to assist colleges in implementing these regulations.

Distance Education Guidelines
In an effort to provide on-going assistance and evaluation of the distance education activities within the California Community Colleges system, The Chancellor's Office has developed these Distance Education Guidelines.

TOP Codes
The Taxonomy of Programs (TOP) is a common, numeric coding system by which districts and colleges categorize degree and certificate programs and courses on the basis of the similarities of their published goals and objectives. A TOP code is requested by a college when applying for the approval of a new degree or certificate program, based upon the recommendation of the regional occupational deans.

Accreditation Handbook
The 1996 edition of the Handbook of Accreditation and Policy Manual, by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, gives the standards by which community colleges are accredited. PART I - Introduction; Part II Standards for Accreditation; Part III - Commission Policies; Part IV Accreditation Agencies and Related Organizations

IGETC Standards
Adopted in 1991 as an outcome of AB 1725, the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Core Curriculum creates categories of general education courses which meet the transfer requirements of both the California State University and the University of California. This page contains the full text of the intersegmental agreement, including descriptions of each of the IGETC categories. Also included are guidelines for implementation and notes on issues, published as IGETC NOTES, volumes 1, 2, and 3.

IGETC After Transfer
IGETC provides a pattern of courses that fulfills the transfer general education requirements at both the University of California (UC) and the California State University (CSU). Each California community college offers a complete set of courses that satisfy IGETC.

Use, Effectiveness, and Awareness of the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC). An Evaluation
This study was conducted by the Academic Senate at the direction of the Intersegmental Committee of Academic Senates (ICAS)

CSU-GE Breadth Standards
Executive Order 595, issued in 1993, gives the requirements for the California State University General Education-Breadth courses.

Model District Policy on Prerequisites, Corequisites, and Advisories on Recommended Preparation
With the passage of revised Title 5 regulations on prerequisites in September of 1993, the Board of Governors also adopted these guidelines to assist local colleges in implementing the regulations.
